Eligibility and Evaluation Criteria

In order to participate to the Lightcoce Open Call, the interested entity should fulfil the following eligibility criteria:

1. The proposed idea should be within the three following fields:

a. Concrete (lightweight, or foamed or traditional and/or nanoenabled)

b. Traditional Ceramics (Tiles, Extruded Bricks, lightweight or traditional and/or nanoenabled)

c. Advanced Ceramics

2. The following type of entities are eligible in the Lightcoce Open Call:

a. SMEs (Small and medium-sized enterprises) as defined in the EU recommendation 2003/361

b. LEs (Large enterprises)

c. Research & Development organizations

3. The interested entity should be legally established in an EU member state or an associated country

4. An interested entity should confirm that it complies with ALL the following rules:

a. has not been declared bankrupt or have initiated bankruptcy procedures

b. has not convictions for fraudulent behavior, other financial irregularities, unethical or illegal business practices.

c. It is not under liquidation or is not an enterprise under difficulty accordingly to the Commission Regulation No 651/2014, art. 2.18

5. By submitting a proposal to the LightCoce Open Call, the interested entity declares that, to its knowledge, there are no conflicts of interest, which might affect the objectivity of the proposal’s evaluation. The list of LightCoce partners can be found here.

6. Each applicant must confirm that:

a. The project is based on original works and going forward any foreseen developments are free from third party rights, or they are clearly stated.

b. The Project is not excluded under the provisions of article 19 of Regulation (EU) No 1291/2013 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 11 December 2013 (ethics).

c. Has read and accepted Terms & Conditions for proposal submission.

d. The submitted proposal should require access to at least two types of services, one of which should be an Upscaling/Testing Service.

8. All proposals should be able to exhibit successful experiments showcasing the proposals potential, at least at lab-scale. Therefore, the proposal’s TRL should preferably be around 4-5, nevertheless proposals with lower TRL will also be considered. Extra points will be given if the proposals have already obtained recent experimental results that can be justified.

9. The duration of the proposed time plan for the implementation of the proposed idea should not exceed eight (8) months in total, for the completion of all the requested services.

10. The high Innovation potential and industrial interest will be considered as added value. Any links applicants can demonstrate with industry or commercial opportunities will be positively evaluated (for example industry supported ideas, patents, technology licensing, etc).
